doubleAI is building next-generation reasoning and code-optimization agents that push the frontier of artificial expert intelligence — AI-powered tooling that optimizes code and verifies its correctness, at a level no human expert could match manually. We are looking for a Product Engineer to own and ship the products that put this capability in the hands of engineers, data scientists, and researchers.

This is not a pure infrastructure or back-end role. We are looking for an exceptional engineer who builds with taste — who understands what it means to make a tool developers actually love using. You will own features end-to-end, work directly with users, and define what it feels like to have AI optimize and verify your code. That product experience does not exist yet. You will create it.

In this role, you will:

  • Own product features end-to-end: scope, build, ship, measure, and iterate — across CLI, IDE integrations, web surfaces, and the AI pipeline behind them.
  • Talk directly to users — engineers, data scientists, ML practitioners — and let their feedback shape what you build next.
  • Define what AI-powered code optimization and verification feels like as a developer experience: the interaction model, the feedback loops, the trust signals. There is no established playbook; you will create the conventions.
  • Craft interfaces that feel fast, focused, and effortless for technical users who have zero patience for friction.
  • Collaborate with researchers to translate model breakthroughs into polished, reliable tooling that developers can depend on in production.
  • Build evaluation infrastructure and product metrics that measure whether the tools are actually getting better.
  • Work directly with the founding team on product strategy and roadmap.

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years shipping production software; meaningful time at a high-velocity team or early-stage startup.
  • Full-stack depth: TypeScript/React on the frontend, Python on the backend — comfortable enough with infrastructure to not get blocked.
  • Developer empathy: genuine understanding of developer workflows, frustrations, and what delightful tooling actually feels like. You have strong opinions about the tools you use — and about the ones you wish existed.
  • Independent product judgment: the ability to make sound product decisions without needing extensive process or sign-off.
  • UX and design obsession: you sweat the details others overlook — micro-interactions, transitions, response times, empty states — because you know that magical developer experiences are built from hundreds of small decisions done right.
  • Hands-on LLM/agent experience in production: you have shipped something real people rely on and dealt with its failure modes.
  • Strong ownership mindset, good judgment, and the ability to operate with high agency under uncertainty.

Bonus points for

  • Developer tools experience: building CLIs, IDE extensions, coding assistants, linters, compilers, or any technical product where the user is an engineer.
  • Prior experience at a frontier AI lab, applied AI company, or developer tools company — you know what good looks like in this category.
  • Experience with evals or quality harnesses for AI/ML systems.
  • Experience designing agent loops, agentic UX patterns, or tool-use integrations.
  • Open-source contributions or public work that demonstrates your product and engineering taste.
