doubleAI is building next-generation reasoning and code-optimization agents that push the frontier of artificial expert intelligence. Our models are built on world-class infrastructure: large-scale GPU clusters, state of the art agentic cloud environments, and CI/CD pipelines.

We are looking for a Research Engineer to help build frontier AI systems and the infrastructure behind them. This is not a narrow role. You will work across multiple parts of the system, collaborating with researchers and engineers to turn ideas into production systems.

We are looking for someone with strong fundamentals, algorithmic problem solving capabilities, hands-on engineering skills, a collaborative mindset, and a desire for continuous learning. We value people who are comfortable moving between code, systems, algorithms, and problem domains.

In this role, you will:

  • Write production-grade code powering frontier AI systems.
  • Work on performance, scalability, and reliability of distributed systems.
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers to turn ideas into systems that run.
  • Improve tooling, infrastructure, and developer workflows.

What we're looking for

  • Engineers with a generalist mindset and a track record of hands-on work across different areas of software.
  • People who are comfortable moving between code, systems, algorithms, and problem domains.
  • Strong fundamentals, sound judgment, and the ability to learn quickly.
  • Candidates who can point to concrete evidence of excellence.

Bonus points for

  • Experience with technologies used throughout our stack, including Python, C++, PyTorch, CUDA, Rust, Linux, containers, Kubernetes, SLURM, AWS, GCP, Prometheus, Grafana, vLLM, or distributed systems.
  • Experience working across both research and engineering environments.
  • Experience building, scaling, or operating AI systems and infrastructure.
